Christian C. Lu, M.D., M.H.S.
Christian Lu, M.D., M.H.S., is an assistant clinical professor and palliative care specialist who supports City of Hope’s whole-person approach to cancer care. Dr. Lu partners with care teams to help patients maintain the best possible quality of life. With his background as a palliative care physician for skilled nursing facilities and home care services, he is also experienced in working with family members in helping them establish a supportive environment for patients outside the hospital setting.
Before City of Hope, Dr. Lu held positions with Monarch Hospitalist Associates in Irvine, OC Comprehensive Care in Santa Ana, and Long Beach Memorial Medical Center, where he served as the medical director of palliative care.
Dr. Lu earned a bachelor’s degree in public health at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, where he also received a master’s degree in molecular biology and biochemistry. Additionally, he earned a master’s degree in bioethics from Trinity International University in Deerfield, Illinois, before receiving a medical degree from Drexel University College of Medicine in Philadelphia. He served an internship in internal medicine at Hahnemann University Hospital in Philadelphia and residency in internal medicine at University of Southern California. He completed a fellowship in palliative medicine at Kaiser Permanente Los Angeles.
Dr. Lu speaks Filipino, Mandarin and Spanish.
