Dilruba Haque, M.D., wants people she cares for to feel educated about their disease and empowered to make decisions. Fluent in Spanish, Urdu and Hindi, she knows that “cancer” is a scary word in any language, and finds satisfaction in her work helping patients and their families navigate through difficult times. Dr. Haque is involved in initiatives to improve both the patient experience and communications from health care providers.
 
She earned her medical degree at the University of MissouriKansas City, where she was honored with a research award to study international women’s health. She completed her residency in internal medicine at St. Mary Medical Center Harbor-UCLA (University of California Los Angeles), and her fellowship in oncology and hematology at Harbor-UCLA. Her current research interests include quality improvement initiatives, precision medicine and treatments for breast cancer.
 
Outside of work, Dr. Haque enjoys playing the piano, gardening and spending time with her children.
