City of Hope cares for patients from prevention through survivorship by pairing our expertise in numerous cancers and conditions with world-class technologies and services.
At any point in their cancer journey, patients can call or chat with a member of our team to make an appointment to meet with an expert in medical, radiation or surgical oncology at our Downtown Chicago outpatient care clinic. The oncologist will discuss whether additional tests or scans may be required, while walking patients through the next steps in their treatment journey. Our cancer experts work with patients to develop a personalized treatment plan based on their specific cancer type and stage.
The Downtown Chicago location offers on-site treatment options for patients who require radiation and infusion therapy, including chemotherapy, hormone therapy and other intravenous and injectable treatments.
If patients require a surgical procedure, our hospital in Zion, Illinois, is staffed by a multidisciplinary surgical oncology team led by surgeons trained and experienced in a vast array of disciplines, including breast surgery, oncoplastic reconstruction, hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC) and neurosurgery.
One of the unique benefits of the downtown location is that it is the only center in the Chicago city limits to offer CyberKnife radiation therapy technology. CyberKnife is a noninvasive option for some patients who have inoperable or surgically complex tumors, or who may be looking for an alternative to surgery. The CyberKnife system enables our radiation oncologists to deliver high, targeted doses of radiation to a broad range of tumors throughout the body, including in the colon, prostate, lung, brain, spine, liver, pancreas and kidney.
Many patients underestimate how dramatically cancer can affect them, physically and emotionally. An integrative approach to cancer care treats the disease with radiation therapy, chemotherapy, surgery and other conventional treatments, while also supporting patients’ strength, stamina and quality of life with evidence-informed therapies. At City of Hope | Downtown Chicago, patients have access to supportive care services designed to help manage this important aspect of the cancer experience, so they are better able to stay on their treatment regimens and avoid delays or interruptions.
