Medical oncologist Roderick Paras, M.D., was inspired to be a doctor in part by his parents’ own deferred dreams of pursuing medical careers. His approach to cancer care is guided by a simple adage: “To heal sometimes, to alleviate often, to comfort always.” He is driven to cure his patients while minimizing side effects when possible and, when it’s not, to prolong life while maintaining quality of life. No matter what, he is intently focused on providing high-quality care.
When Dr. Paras joined City of Hope in 2022, he brought with him more than two decades’ worth of experience treating cancer in the community, earning multiple awards based on patient surveys along the way. He has previously worked with Mid Florida Hematology/Oncology in Oveido, Florida, Cancer Center of Sarasota-Manatee in Florida, Southeast Physician Network in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, and US Oncology in Ocala, Florida.
In his free time, Dr. Paras enjoys traveling, cycling, playing basketball, playing chess, watching movies and pickle ball.
