Born in Taiwan and educated in Chile, Yih-Dar Nien, M.D., brings a unique perspective to his work at City of Hope’s Antelope Valley and Santa Clarita facilities. A talented surgeon, he connects easily with patients, conversing in their native language, be it Spanish, Mandarin or Taiwanese.

Dr. Nien specializes in minimally invasive laparoscopy and a variety of abdominal and intestinal procedures.

After receiving his medical degree in Chile, Dr. Nien continued his training with an internship at University of Southern California in Los Angeles and residency at Marshall University in Huntington, West Virginia. At Marshall, Dr. Nien received no less than half a dozen honors and awards, including Resident of the Year and Excellence in Teaching.

Dr. Nien joined City of Hope in 2010.
